The Value of a Move Manager

A BBC (Briggs Burton Consulting) move manager manages the details of a move, creates a roadmap and holds everyone accountable. We identify risks before they become issues, and work to ensure your relocation is seamless.

We use a multi-step process to plan, execute and finalize a relocation, expansion or decommission.  We sew up the seams.  Some of our processes are identified below:

  • Pre-move coordination: After a project kick-off meeting, we prepare a master project schedule, a move list, and a migration plan. Your team will know what’s happening, when we need their participation and their role in the move. We create a “Welcome Packet” for your employees so they know where to park their bikes, cars, get food, shower, get food delivered and what outside amenities may be within walking distance. We bring our knowledge to your project.
  • Furniture Coordination: Our move team will inventory the existing furniture, coordinate with the furniture installation company and work with you to determine what furniture can be reused. If any existing furniture will not be relocated to the new space, we will arrange for the items to be decommissioned recycled or donated.  We focus on the details.
  • Employee Engagement: Before we engage any of your employees we speak with HR and Leadership to ensure our comms are in line with your messaging. We take your lead.
  • Throughout the relocation process, we maintain communication with you and SPOC Move team, so everyone understands their role. This will include writing and distributing move guidelines, progress meetings, and packing demonstrations.  We listen to your employees concerns and needs and walk them through this change.
  • Vendor Coordination: if desired, we are the point of contact for vendors throughout this move project. We are experienced in creating bid packets and RFi’s, we can also prepare RFPs for vendors such as the movers and ensure we coordinate the specifics with then selected partners. We manage the logistics.
  • Packing: We ensure everything is packed, labeled and ready to move.  We handle the confidential matters, documents and ensure zip ties or other materials are in place to maintain integrity of documents. if we need to provide chain of custody, we can work with you to meet this requirement.
  • Move Supervision: When it’s time to move, we focus on getting everything to the right place, so your staff can easily unpack and get to work. We provide relocation specialists at both the origin and move destination to ensure a seamless experience.
  • Post Move Support: We offer Launch Services – this ensures employees can get coffee, lunch shows up- when scheduled and conference rooms work.  We do tasks to ensure BBC provides a support your team in the days following the move. Should you have any issues connecting technology or locating any items, we step in to assist and solve.

What is a Move Manager?

We use a multi-step process to plan, execute and finalize a relocation, expansion or decommission.

Lease Review

We do a complete lease review to ensure we are aware of notice periods, how to reserve the loading docks, freight elevators and any landlord specifics such as how to get air or heat during the move should it be after hours. We also learn what the Landlord expects from the vacancy, broom swept condition, dates where we don’t affect a holdover clause, and /or any special agreements the Landlord may have with items we are not moving forward with.

Space Review

We review the existing floor plans and review the future state drawings. We talk through workspaces, the thoughts behind the design and any specialty areas you have designed into the new space.

Pre-move Coordination

After a project kick-off meeting, we prepare a master project schedule, a move list, and a migration plan.
